Getting To Know Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning

It is true that when you set out to buy an air conditioner it may be outside the purview of your normal expertise because you are not aware of the intricate factors that should go into the selection of an air conditioner. There are a lot of factors that needs to be considered when you are buying an air conditioner for your home. However, as the knowledge of most people about air conditioners is limited, the chance to go wrong in the right kind of selection is even more. Hence, it is important that adequate research is carried out while deciding on the kind of air conditioner which is suitable for your home. However, while you are searching more about air conditioners, you might come across a term, “reverse cycle air conditioning”.

Let us discuss here the meaning of “reverse cycle air conditioning” and its importance. The other name for reverse cycle air conditioning is heat pumps. Irrespective of the name that is used for this appliance it can be described as a type of air conditioner that uses the refrigeration cycle to cool the homes and the reverse refrigeration cycle to warm the homes. In case of reverse cycle air conditioning, a compressor is used to either cool or heat your home. The compressor pumps the refrigerant into the chambers and then into a condenser. When the refrigerant is compressed it warms up and a fan blows hot air into the room. Once this process gets over, the refrigerant goes back to the evaporator and cools down before it is being pumped to the condenser and then it is recycled. Similarly, when you need to cool your home, this entire cycle gets reversed and cold air is blown inside the home instead of hot air.

There are certain factors that need to be kept in mind while installing a reverse cycle air conditioning. First of all installing such a system in an already existing building can be quite expensive because a lot of structural modifications will be needed. On the other hand, installing a heat pump in a newly constructed building can be cost effective because certain factors can be pre-constructed. Nevertheless, certain things needs to be kept in mind while installing a reverse cycle air conditioning like the orientation of the building, the size of the rooms, the material that is used for the construction of the house, and the level of insulation that is present in that house.

As far as reverse cycle air conditioning is concerned, there are two types. One is the fixed speed reverse cycle and inverter reverse cycle. The fixed speed reverse cycle is the one in which the heat pump operates at a speed which is preset while in case of an inverter reverse cycle the compressor operates as per the temperature requirement. To put it simply, it has the ability to operate at variable speed. Inverter reverse cycle ensures increased comfort and more energy savings.

Last but not the least; when you are buying a reverse cycle air conditioner it is better if you take help from an experienced HVAC professional.
